Gamba Grass Roots submission to National Established Weed Priorities (NEWP) Framework

Gamba Grass Roots have submitted formal feedback to the new NEWP Framework.

We urge this framework to remain focused on dealing with invasive species at scale, to provide pathways for ambitious action led by communities and to embrace evidenced based solutions. This framework needs to be applied and adopted across all land tenures, particularly stakeholders who manage large tracts of land such as Crown Land, Defence, agricultural and mining holdings. This is particularly important as some of these large landholders often have the capacity to co-invest in implementing the Framework. We acknowledge this framework is not intended to be tied to funding outcomes, but we urge those formulating this framework to ensure that it is set up to succeed at the scale needed to take on some of Australia’s most problematic established weeds, such as gamba grass.

Please find our completed feedback template for Version 2 of the National Established Weed Priorities (NEWP) framework in the files below.
