Our letter to NT leaders

The fire season has officially started. We’re all preparing for it, our firebreaks are in and we’ve got our gamba and other weeds under control. As we all enjoy the relief of the Dry arriving, and restrictions are slowly lifted on what we can do, we’re still getting ready for the risks ahead.

Our whole community was pressuring the Government for gamba action and more resources for firies in this year’s NT Budget. That Budget was supposed to be handed down this month, but it’s been delayed due to COVID-19. It’s understandable that the NT Government can’t deliver a Budget right now, when so much is uncertain.

But at the start of another worrying fire season, we can’t wait any longer to hear detailed plans from our political leaders for how they’re going to get gamba under control.

Take action today – ask our elected officials to tell you their plan for gamba action.

We’ve put together a clear letter to the three party leaders – Michael Gunner, Lia Finocchiaro and Terry Mills – asking them to set out their plans and commitments for gamba action. Will you sign our letter and send them a message today?

We’ve come a long way. All of the parties are aware of the strength of community pressure for action on gamba. Now we need clarity, detail, and commitment.
