Gamba makes fires worse

We’ve seen devastating bushfires across the Top End. Fires that have threatened homes, destroyed mango crops and put even more strain on fire crews, their families and communities.

Exhausted crews are having to front up day after day to fires that are often made worse by gamba.

Territorians are living through the consequences of this gamba crisis and need their Government to act immediately to stop the spread of gamba grass before lives are lost.

Now is the time to tell the Gunner Government to take action on gamba grass.

On Sunday around 70 of us gathered at a rural resident’s house to talk about successes, why we want more action to protect lives, homes and wildlife and to launch the new community action group ‘Protect Our Patch’

Thank you once again to everybody who came along. If you couldn’t make it due to fires near your house or because you were out fighting fires, our thoughts and thanks go out to you.

It was clear from Sunday’s event that there is a real appetite from the community for more action, action led by the community is just the start.

Join our call for the NT Government to get on with the job of solving this gamba crisis before it’s too late.
